The Belgian Monk opened in December 2000. The main objective was to create something different yet to fit in with the way drinking and dining is changing. It has become a successful and established bar and restaurant, offering customers a choice of a regular selection of some 45 beers together with a selection of special beers. The menu is based on serving only the best products available freshly prepared daily, at realistic prices, in an informal relaxed “friends and family” atmosphere. It provides more than just the meal or drink but a whole Belgian experience.

The Belgian Monk has a personality, it is friendly, social, inviting and of course its honest. It becomes a bit of a habit. The Belgian Monk has respect for its origins in terms of hospitality and its cultural and brewing traditions.

The Belgian Monk is the place to rediscover that life is best in its simplicity. It aims to sell a unique range of Belgian Beers and to produce food of exceptional quality, efficiently served with genuine warmth in a relaxed “friends and family” atmosphere, which are true to typical Belgian style bringing together a “stew of tastes”. Themed on the Grimbergen Abbey, the offer at the Belgian Monk is positioned to be value for money, maintaining proof that good food does not have to be synonymous with haute cuisine.

The respect reserved for wine in most countries is in Belgium accorded to beer. No country hs so many distinct syles of beer, retained and refined during the centuries of brewing tradition. At the Belgian Monk we give you the opportunity to experience some of the great beers of Belgium. Whether bottled or draught, they are served the Belgian way each in their own unique glass.

The New Inn at Roughton is considered one of all the North Norfolk Restaurants.
The food is a blend of Asian and English, meaning that East meets West in perfect harmony. Eating out in Norfolk has never been better than this!

Sean and Tina are delighted to welcome individuals, groups or corporate parties to our restaurant and assure you of a warm and friendly welcome.
There are many different spirits, wines and real ales to choose from. The food is always fresh and cooked to order. It can be served out in our beautiful garden restaurant, or can be collected via our takeaway counter service. Either way your experience will ensure that you will want to come back for more.

We have a barn conversion which can be used for functions or corporate events, networking or any other activity.

The Brick Kilns Public House and Restaurant in Little Plumstead near Norwich is run by Paul and Mandy Anderson-Cowles. Built over 400 years ago, this character pub has a charming interior with a wealth of oak beams and real fires in winter.

The popular restaurant serves traditional foods as well as fish dishes, grills and a 16 item award-winning vegetarian and vegan menu. Please see the Food and Drink page for copies of our menus. Daily Specials are also available from our blackboards such as Sunday Roast lunch for £8.50. Well kept real ales are served from the bar along with fine wines and freshly brewed coffee.

The new conservatory has far reaching views across fields and our menagerie of animals which include Jacob sheep, goats, horses and donkeys. It is available for private dining, meetings, weddings and wakes (except during our busy times – Friday / Saturday evenings and Sunday lunchtime).

Our countryside location close to the Norfolk Broads makes us an ideal choice for a drink or delicious meal. We are open all day from 11am to 11pm and serve meals lunchtime and evening. Call in and see us and our friendly staff or treat yourself and stay overnight in one of our new B&B bedrooms. Paul and Mandy look forward to welcoming you.
